Juicing: Triple C vs Big C

Everyday, Papa buys veggies in the market for me to juice. Among his favorite juice ingredients are carrots, cucumber, and celery. He told me that these three veggies fight against cancer. I’m all down for anything that is anti-cancer. Well, who wouldn’t be right?

I use my JML juicer which I got from SM Marikina Department Store at around Php 6,000. According to the box, it can be used as a juicer, blender, grinder, pulverizer, and food processor. Good for someone who likes getting busy in the kitchen.

Anyway, so everyday we would have carrots, cucumber, and celery to juice.

I chop them into smaller pieces.

After extracting the juice, you will have something that looks like this.

How does it tastes like, you ask? Well, honestly, it’s not something you’ll appreciate at first. Celery when juiced tends to give a strong scent which makes you feel sick when you drink it. I didn’t like it at first but I did get the hang of drinking this concoction. It is first and foremost healthy.

I did search for the benefits I can get from these ingredients.

As we all know, carrots are a good source of beta-carotene which improves vision. Among its other benefits are:

– it has anti-aging properties
– gives you healthy glowing skin
– it’s a powerful antiseptic
– good for gums and teeth
– prevents stroke

Carrots also good sources for cancer prevention. It is good for fighting lung, colorectal, leukemia, and prostate cancers.

Celery is a good source of vitamins such as Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, Potassium, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Sodium, and Amino Acids. Among its benefits are:

– aids bowel movement
– lowers blood pressure
– replenishes lost electrolytes
– lowers cholesterol and LDL
– helps relieve constipation
– diuretic
– used against inflammations
– promotes normal kidney function
– helps eliminate toxins
– breaks urinary stones
– promotes weight loss

It also has acetylenics which stops growth of tumor cells; phenolic acids which blocks prostaglandins that encourage the growth of tumor cells; coumarins which help prevent free radicals from damaging cells. Among the cancers it fights are colon and stomach cancer.

Cucumbers are good sources of Vitamin B. Its benefits are:

– rehydration
– good for hair and skin care
– used to help fight bad breath
– cure for hangovers
– aids in weight loss and digestion
– reduces cholesterol
– controls blood pressure
– relieves joint pains: gout and arthritis

It fights breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, and prostate cancer.

So if you have a juicer but don’t know what produce to get, you may try these three C’s. You don’t need to get the Big C before you start taking care of your body, do you? If you can’t tolerate the taste, you may add in two to three apples to make it sweeter. Enjoy!
